Hi, I'm Xiao. I'm a game designer and producer. I'm currently a first year graduate student at Carnegie Mellon University, Entertainment Technology Center. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre Arts and Political Science with a minor in Portuguese Language and Culture from the University of Pittsburgh.
At Carnegie Mellon University, I had the chance to work on both semester-long academic projects and rapid prototyping projects as a Game Designer and Producer, which sharpened my team working skills and my ability to adapt to different platforms. Over the summer, I had the opportunity to work on MSG Sphere on some mobile features of a large-scale multiplayer experience professionally, which helped me understand mobile gaming better and made me a more effective communicator in a bigger team. Currently, I'm working as a Game Designer for the class Building Virtual Worlds at the Entertainment Technology Center. We are creating 5 unique virtual worlds on multiple platforms within the timespan of 2 weeks for each of them. I have always had passion for telling stories and creating art. Before heading into the game industry, I worked on multiple educational and regional productions as a stage manager, where I developed skills in teamworking and communication. I was fascinated by the collaborative nature of theatre, the collision of culture, and the story behind telling a story. I want to bring my passion and my skills to the game industry where there is a broader audience. I believe in storytelling and creative thinking. I love having conversions with the audience through artistic expression. I enjoy being a problem solver and a facilitator of teamwork. Besides spending time in front of my work station, I like playing games, painting, and cooking. Please check out my general resume below! |
